#1 Faerie Tree Ornament
This was created using a paper mache ornament purchased at a craft store. You can use the string hanger on the ornament if you prefer. However, I chose to replace this with a copper wire hanger so the following are the instructions for doing that if you go that route.
Cut the thread hanger off paper mache ornament. Use awl to open up a small hole in the top of the ornament. Use a thin needle or stiff piece of wire (like a cut up coat hanger) to poke a hole thru from the center bottom up to the center top.
There is a piece of cardboard inside that is the anchor for the string hanger. This needs to be pushed out so you can insert the new wire hanger.
Paint ornament with 2 coats of silver Lumiere paint using a sea sponge for texture. Allow to dry between coats. For even more texture glue a crumpled and smoothed piece of tissue on either side of ornament before painting.
Stamp and emboss faerie image on cardstock and color with markers and gel pens. Trim closely..
I traced the ornament onto cardstock and used decorative scissors to cut inside the line about 1/4" all around. Stamp and emboss HoHoHo in middle and stamp the ribbon image several times. Lightly stipple around images and rub edges with Brilliance Orchid Dewdrop inkpad.
Adhere both images to ornament.
Hanger:
Cut a length of copper craft wire (about 16 cauge) a couple inches longer than ornament. Use round nose pliers and wrap end of wire to create a small loop. Use your fingers t continue coiling the wire around the beginning loop to make top spiral of piece of wire that goes thru the ornament.
Use round nose pliers to put a bend in the wire below the spiral and thread wire thru ornament. Cut ecess wire off but be sure to leave enough to create a closed loop with your round nose pliers.
Make another spiral to hang from the bottom loop as a charm. Make a copper jump ring to connect it to the closed loop.
Fill in the hole around the wire at the top of the ornament with Crafter's Pick glue. Allow to dry. When dry carefully touch up area with a bit of Silver Lumier paint if necessary. Use thicker (12 gauge) copper wire to create hangerfor top and attach to ornament with a copper jump ring.
You can find instructions for these basic jewelry/wire techniques in any bead/wire craft magazine.
